Master Classes with the Colorado Quartet

THE PROGRAM includes daily coachings with the Colorado Quartet, staff coaches and young professional quartets; master classes with the Colorado Quartet. Each student plays and performs in two groups, which meet every day. Other activities include lectures, musicianship classes, Professional Studies master classes and Colorado Quartet concerts. Apprentice groups perform at Quartet Institute concerts and at concerts in the community.
BASIC DAILY SCHEDULE:
9:00-11:00 One-hour rehearsal with each group
11:00-12:30 Group #1 coachings
1:30-2:30 Group #2 coachings
2:30-4:00 Rehearsals, unless there is class or lecture at 5:00
4:00-6:00 Free time (or lecture or class)
7:00-9:00 Master classes, lectures & concerts



WHERE
Students under 18 are housed in rental houses with counselors
College-age students are housed in separate facilities
Housing is in close proximity to the beach!
Classes are held at Falmouth Academy on Cape Cod

Auditions in March in Falmouth (March 6 & 7), NY City or at Bard College
A short recorded audition will be required if unable to audition in person

AUDITION REPERTOIRE (recorded or live)
Excerpt from a concerto (1-2 pages) plus short contrasting piece
The concerto should show your technical level of advancement
The slower excerpt should show beauty of tone and musicianship
No accompaniment is possible at live auditions
There will be sight-reading at all auditions
RECORDED AUDITIONS
Acceptable formats: Cassette or video tape, CD or DVD. No DAT or mini-disc, please Selections can be short; you may also send complete live performances
Recordings can be home-made, and do not need accompaniment
Excerpts will be sent as pdfs; applicants will sight-read over the phone
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 20
Applicants notified of acceptance by March 15th

HOW MUCH?
Tuition: $300 per person, per week
Housing: $350 per person, per week, for those in rentals
Meals: $75 per person, per week, for those in rentals
Application: $20 per person/$25 for pre-formed groups
Some scholarships are available

A group from the Young Apprentice Program
